Even if they were the only two at the pool, they still preferred to get ready at home.
Shark had made sure Sinbad had a more modest swimsuit this time. There wasn’t much of a need to repeat last time’s wardrobe malfunction.
With a confused look, Sinbad stared at the black swim trunks he now wore in lieu of underwear. Something about them seemed familiar…
“Dude, how’d you get my old suit?”
Looking up from putting his shoes on, Shark gave his response: “I got them from Amy. She, eh…She was over at your old house.”
It didn’t take much to know what that entailed. Sinbad just hoped that it didn’t end badly for her.
A part of him said he needed to continue the charade for her sake. Another part of him wasn’t sure how far he could take it.
“You sure it’s a good idea to be heading out this late? I mean, you know, flooding issues and shit. And your dad’s gonna wonder where we headed off to.” In an effort to pay for damages, Dennis had been working much later than usual.
Shark sat down next to his fiance and took hold of his arm. “We’ll just tell him we were out celebrating something important. I mean, it’s true.”
Whoever had been in charge of cleaning up the pool had done an amazingly quick job. It looked just as nice as it did before the town was almost wiped off the map.
Sinbad looked at the comforting stillness of the water. The moon, now at a crescent phase, was being reflected. He then walked away from the sight to get undressed in the locker room.
By the time he got in, Shark was already taking his shirt off. He tried not to peek as he undid his pants. He was flustered enough to have a hard time getting said pants off.
“Hey, dude.” Sinbad waited until Shark was free of his shirt. “I think I need a little help.
The pool was even colder than they thought. The two of them visibly shivered as they entered the water. Sinbad couldn’t help but notice goosebumps rise up on Shark’s skin.
“You all right?” Shark nodded. He felt Sinbad’s hands gently clasp his arms, and relaxed.
“It’s just a little more chilly than last time I was here. And it’s getting closer to Fall, so…”
He trailed off, and leaned in against Sinbad’s chest. He closed his eyes and then turned to face him.
When he opened his eyes again, Sinbad had an unusually mischievous smile on his face. Before Shark could ask him what he was planning, Sinbad held up a very familiar pair of black swim trunks.
Shark was honestly not sure how he got those off so quickly and discreetly. His mind then turned to another topic of concern:
“What if someone sees you?”
Giving a fairly casual shrug, Sinbad threw his swimsuit off to the side. “Hey, it was either here or at your grandparents’ place. And I’d rather not deal with your grandma or uncle anyway. She makes Sheogorath look sane, and he’s Twinbrook’s answer to Florida Man.”
“True.” Waving off the sudden amount of nudity, the two of them just decided to swim some laps.
It took some time for them to get used to the cold water. At the least, it was pleasant enough for them to splash each other with.
Both of them felt as though they could spend the entire night just messing around. However, they had to take into account the potential chlorine and pruning of skin.
“Am I the only one who thinks this town could benefit from a hot tub or two?” Sinbad was leaning against the edge of the pool now, while Shark opted to just sit next to him.
“You’re not the only one, but those cost a lot of money.” Shark clasped his hands together as Sinbad’s green eyes stared at him. “And given the damage from all that happened, I doubt there’s much left to spare.”
Sinbad’s big eyebrows raised in fake resignation at hearing this. “Well…” He tilted his head in a possible attempt to be coy. “Shit, then.”
Having enough of being nude in the water, Sinbad took a seat up next to Shark. For some time after that, the two of them admired the night sky.
