As soon as Annette was done explaining what was going to happen, everyone was stunned into a disturbed silence.
“Yeah so…That’s going to happen,” She added on in an effort to break the tension. There was still no proper reaction.
Then, gradually, Marc reached up to grab hold of his face. As he did so, a guttural throat sound was heard, before it crescendoed into an outright shriek.
“Oh, dear…” Dennis said finally as he and Blaise turned to look at him. “It seems the poor man’s mind broke from that image.”
For Dennis himself, said image was quite unpleasant. Knowing that his own son was going to have to sleep with his future father-in-law bothered him greatly.
“So what? We wait for someone to come get us or some ass-backwards shit like that?”
Sinbad now sat against the wall of their cell, calmly stroking Shark’s hair. Harwood sat opposite him, still on guard.
“I suppose we do. I don’t…I don’t know exactly what is supposed to happen. Not every day a man has to ‘do things’ with a future in-law.”
Right as he stopped talking, the door opened again. This time, revealing two more assistants.
This time, instead of sun and moon masks, they wore an ox and a horse’s mask.
“How come I can’t spend time with Andromeda now?” Ox-Head asked of Horse-Face as the two descended the stairs. “Is she mad at me? Did I do something wrong?”
Horse-Face remained silent as the two approached the cell. Taking out a key, he calmly unlocked it to bring out the prisoners.
At once, Sinbad leaped out and attacked Horse-Face. Ox-Head merely stood by as Sinbad was quickly subdued.
“Are you gonna dunk him in a font of holy water now? Like that priest who did it to me during Christmas Mass?”
Shaking his head, Horse-Face then threw Sinbad back onto the ground, and walked in to fetch Shark and Harwood.
“Believe me when I say I’d rather you both not suffer this, but…” He then looked down in shame. “I’m not one to talk.”
As soon as Marc calmed down, everyone was caught off guard by a loud trilling from upstairs. Annette could feel her blood chill at the sound of it.
“Ugh!” Blaise then stuck her fingers into her ears. “Sounds like somebody’s violently murdering a cello!”
Annette looked back at the group, then her eyes switched to a place she knew to have a hidden door. Quickly, she yanked it open and gestured for them to get in.
“Hurry! Before The Builder gets back!” Without hesitation, all of them went in, even Sagebear.
Once they were all in, Annette slid it shut again and breathed a sigh of relief. Said relief quickly disappeared a few seconds later, when she heard The Builder tumbling down the stairs.
“Ow! Ah, fuck! That was not a smooth landing!” The Builder managed to get to their feet, as Sunny and Moony descended as well, holding baskets of various objects.
“You see? That’s why you aren’t supposed to do backflips on a stairwell,” Moony admonished them when he and Sunny reached the last step. Sunny himself just facepalmed.
The Builder just waved off his concerns, and dusted themself off. Upon seeing Annette, they took on a malicious grin.
“Ah! There you is, wifey! Right where I left you!” They took a hold of her by the hair, and pushed her forward. “Gonna need you to run a camera for something.”
“Run a camera?” Immediately, Annette caught on to what they had in mind. “Oh, you are disgusting!”
The Builder didn’t take it the way she wanted. Instead they gave a smug grin and said ‘thank you’.
As she was still being shoved forward, Annette took one look and noticed blood was beginning to seep through the bandages wrapped around their chest.
If she didn’t know better, she could’ve sworn the red was spelling something.
