Annette had expected the third room to be made up in some sort of bronze or copper color, in keeping with the wallpaper theme of the other two, but it wasn’t.
Instead, the walls in this room looked to be made of dark, solid wood. Affixed to them were several holy relics that put Annette on edge just to look at.
This time, it was the body of Horse-Face’s companion that occupied the chair in the center. Annette quickly assumed it wasn’t actually him inhabiting the body, however.
She didn’t know what to say to him. All she did was kneel in front of him and wait for her cue.
This said cue still caught her off guard when he grabbed her by the arm, like before. The voice that came forth nearly obliterated her well-being.
“Andromeda…” She could hear Ox-Head saying to her in that eerie, uneven voice of his. “Help me, Andromeda, it hurts!”
She never expected to hear his voice again, let alone in these circumstances. Closing her eyes, she let herself be taken into the first scene involving him.
Right away, Annette could hear the sound of a woman screaming in pain. The ear-splitting shrieks were almost too much for her to bear. It almost kept her from realizing she was now standing in a filthy, tiny apartment.
In search of the source, Annette came upon a relatively nasty sight. A few bathroom towels were strewn about the floor, drenched in blood. Even more blood was splattered on the floor itself, with clear evidence that somebody had walked in it.
“I’m gonna cast my vote here on ‘meatball surgery’,” she said to herself in an attempt to rid her mind of more sinister possibilities.
She began to hear other voices as she approached the bathroom, where all the blood seemed to lead to. The door leading to it was closed.
“I guess since I’m not actually here, I could probably go in and see what’s going on.” To test this, Annette shoved her head through the bathroom door.
Sure enough, a woman was lying in the filthy bathtub, clearly in labor. Her inner thighs were coated with blood, as were her hands. Annette could only cringe at this.
“Giving birth in a bathtub. Yeah, I know from first-hand experience how much that sucks,” she said to the laboring woman, who obviously didn’t hear her.
The bathroom door opened, and in walked another priest and an older woman. In the priest’s hands were a bible and another unidentified item.
“It doesn’t feel right, Father!” The older woman said to him as she tried pulling him away from the woman in the bathtub. “To kill an innocent newborn just moments after it’s born?”
“This child is anything but innocent, woman!” The priest snapped at her. “It is the spawn of Lucifer himself, and must be destroyed!”
He then revealed the unknown item in his hands to be a knife, causing Annette to gasp in fear. Thankfully, the older woman reacted quickly after seeing it.
“Do you not remember your own sacred rules? ‘Thou shalt not kill’!” She grabbed a hold of the priest’s wrist, and an altercation ensued.
As the two fought for control, Annette turned her attention back to the laboring woman. By this time, she was now struggling to get out of the bathtub. Once she managed to get her feet onto the floor, she ran off while clutching her belly.
“No!” The priest shouted as she ran out the bathroom door. “Stop! The child within you must be killed!”
The altercation then continued, until somehow, the priest lost his footing and cracked his head open on the side of the bathtub. Once the older woman realized this, she began staring in horror as his brains seemed to leak out.
Having seen enough of this, Annette went off in search of the laboring woman. It was easy to see where she went, following the trail of blood spots.
After about a minute following the blood trail, Annette found the woman outside, in an alleyway next to the apartment.
Given the way she was positioned, it was clear that she had bled out and died there on the ground. Laying next to her body was a newborn baby, not breathing but somehow not dead.
Annette bent down and began reaching out towards the infant, before pulling back after remembering her current state.
She was then jolted into the next scene, so sudden that she ended up falling backwards onto her rear. She didn’t dare get back up for fear of vomiting, or worse.
Her head was practically spinning by the time she reached the next scene.
